چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: CLL is one of the most common leukemias, which is categorized by the accumulation of mature CD5+ B-lymphocytes in the peripheral blood, bone marrow, and secondary lymphoid organs. In this study, the status of rs6449182 polymorphism of the CD38 gene and its association with clinical and laboratory parameters of CLL patients was evaluated. Methods: Genomic DNA extraction was performed using the salting out method. The CD38 gene polymorphism (rs6449182) was studied in 70 patients with CLL and 70 healthy individuals using the PCR-RFLP method. Results: The results of this study showed that the control group had 86% wild-type rs6449182 (CC), 12% heterozygous (CG), and 2% homozygous (GG) genotypes. In the case group, 62% had wild-type genotype (CC) 26% were heterozygous (CG), and 12% were homozygous (GG). Statistical analysis showed that the heterozygous genotype for the CD38 gene was significantly associated with CLL. It was also understood that this polymorphism had a significant relationship with hemoglobin, age, and organomegaly of patients. Conclusions: The CD38 gene polymorphism of rs6449182 SNP G allele had the highest frequency. Moreover, based on the results, this polymorphism has a significant relationship with organomegaly, which indicates the importance of these markers in the pathogenesis and prognosis of the disease.

Association between rs 1800561 CD38 Gene Polymorphism and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Risk

Background and purpose: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common form of adult leukemia characterized by the accumulation of seemingly mature type B lymphocytes in peripheral blood and lymphatic organs. One of the main markers used in the diagnosis and prognosis of CLL is the CD38 gene. Polymorphism is considered to be a major genetic source of phenotypic change within a species an...

Genetic susceptibility variants for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

BACKGROUND There is strong and consistent evidence that a genetic component contributes to the etiology of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). A recent genome-wide association study of CLL identified seven genetic variants that increased the risk of CLL within a European population. METHODS We evaluated the association of these variants, or variants in linkage disequilibrium with these varian...

CD38 gene polymorphisms contribute to genetic susceptibility to B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia: evidence from two case-control studies in Polish Caucasians.

Given the recent findings on the importance of CD38 signaling in the pathogenesis of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL), we hypothesized that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the CD38 gene may be related to B-CLL risk. We evaluated two potentially functional CD38 SNPs, intronic rs6449182 (184C>G) and missense rs1800561 (418C>T, Arg140Trp) in two hospital-based case-control stud...

CD38/CD31 interactions activate genetic pathways leading to proliferation and migration in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells.

Human CD38 is a pleiotropic glycoprotein belonging to a family of enzymes/receptors involved in the catabolism of extracellular nucleotides. CD38-receptor activities are regulated through binding to the nonsubstrate ligand CD31. CD38 expression above a critical threshold is a negative prognostic marker for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients. Activation of CD38 by means of agonistic mon...

CD38 gene polymorphism and chronic lymphocytic leukemia: a role in transformation to Richter syndrome?

CD38 rules proliferation signals in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells, suggesting that the molecule is not merely a prognostic marker but also a key element in the pathogenetic network underlying the disease. CD38 has a genetic polymorphism, characterized by a C>G variation in the regulatory region of intron 1. The working hypothesis is that the presence of different alleles in CLL patie...
